Sunday Grunge

Sunday-Grunge

I’ve come to love Sundays. It’s the only day where I can lounge around, bask in the sun and do nothing. Now that I am out of school, I don’t have to spend my Sundays cramming and can spend the day going to church, getting bubble tea and watching Korean dramas. Although summer is over, these Sunny Sundays extinguish the cold. I’ve realized that lately I have gravitated to lots of black & white outfits. I think the cold weather has made me feel muted and boring, anyone else feeling the same dullness? However, a black & white outfit can still be super fashionable and chic. All you need are black and white pieces with different details, cutting and fabric.

In today’s OOTD I paired a lace black top (that looks kinda like cobwebs), a flowy white skater skirt, leather jacket and leather booties. You could totally add some bling, but I would recommend only dainty accessories since we would want to keep the focus on the outfit details.

Since the lace black top looks very Victorian, I would curl my hair to continue the romantic theme. This OOTD is not only great as your “Sunday Best” for church, but also as a date outfit or some fancy Sunday brunch.

If you want to add small placements of colour, I would recommend adding a bright bag, red/pink lips or if you’re freezing… a blanket scarf.

Black & White Fantasy

Black-&-White-Fantasy-Banner

Crowd watching is one of my favourite past times (that just sounds so creepster…). Seriously though it’s really amusing sometimes to just sit and watch all the different individuals that pass by. Now that school is in full swing, I’m sitting at many coffee shops supposedly working on schoolwork. There really are many characters that walk by, there’s the studious Asians, the bored students who don’t have internet at home, the book-loving adults, the coffee addicts and the frequent coffee shop newbie. Most of the time I just think how difficult and awesome it was to make each person so different yet so similar at the same time.

All this deep talking makes me sound so ancient just like the black and white era of televisions. Black and white outfits are a really big trend during the fall, not only is it easy to pull off, but you can also add your own personal touch with bright accessories or printed details. If you have read some of my old posts, you will realize that fire engine red is one of my favourite colours. Here my bag, bracelet and hairband are my pops of red against my black and white attire. If you really aren’t into colour, this look is perfect for you because you will have many items to pair in your closet.

My preference for Black&White outfits are patterned black and white pants or black leatherette pants to give the outfit a sleek look. Black pants also make you look slimmer and the leather shows off them legs.

Fall is Coming [A B&W Combo]

2013-09-08 17.55.50

Wow it’s been over a month since I’ve posted anything. Not to make any excuses or anything, but I had finals for a few weeks and went on an awesome vacation for a bit. Now I’m back in school and getting ready for my final years :S

Well FALL is in the breeze and it’s time to ditch the summer wardrobe for some jackets and sweaters (my fave!). It might just be me, but I’m still attached to my shorts, skirts and dresses, so I can’t switch wardrobes yet. These days I’m trying to pair my summer clothes with some more weather appropriate pieces. Here I’ve paired my flowy summer dress with my staple black leather jacket. Black and white combinations are a key trend for this Fall 2013 season. It’s actually one of the easier trends to follow because most people would have blacks and whites in their closet already. Combinations can come in the form of patterns (checkered, blocked, stripes) OR simply separates paired together as I have done here. [P.S. for more Fall 2013 trends, follow my Instagram or Twitter]          I think I’ll be gradually uploading OOTD’s in a “Fall is Coming” Series to showcase all the Fall 2013 Trends for your to try yourself. Please let me know what you think of this series so I can decide whether to do this for every season afterwards.

The key to change your wardrobe from one season to the next without breaking your bank account is to purchase timeless basics, read more on trends in the upcoming season from magazines and blogs, and then window shop/browse online to see what styles are common between all the retailers and worth purchasing. You should also evaluate which pieces can last for more than one season.

If you want to challenge this Black & White Combo Trend with patterns, here’s some inspiration for you:
